'The current revolution in technology is changing the way both producers and audiences think of film and the film experience.' How far do you agree with this statement?

'The current revolution in technology is changing the way both producers and audiences think of film and the film experience.' How far do you agree with this statement?

In recent years technology has greatly improved and changed the way in which people all around the world watch film. The use of Conversions now means that people can watch television and big cinema smashes in the comfort of their own homes, for example, The Company Netfix allows members to stream films from their ps3's and xbox's using the wireless capabilities of the consoles. Netfix have more than 11 million users in the US showing that to great extent alot of people are changing the way they view film.

Another major change in recent years in films has been the irruption in the number of 3D films which has literally brought a new dimension to the way in which people view films, The introduction of 3D glasses in cinema now allows a whole theatre of people view the illusion of all sorts of objects being projected out of the screen, this is yet another element used to captivate audiences and improve the film experience. Avatar has been one of the most important films to project and raise the limits of 3D films. James Cameron's 2008 blockbuster was a huge success and has now seen the latest films such as Pirates of the Caribbean:On Strangers tides which is the 4th highest grossing film ever. 3D has made leaps and bounds over the past few years and has totally changed the possibilities for producers and directors alike.

The use of synergy allows producers to expand their market by reaching a wider range of audiences, for example, Avatar created a video game which was published by Ubisoft, a well known game publisher with an already existing large audience which they could sell to, this created ancillary revenue and promotion for the film, which meant hopefully more people would go and watch the film after playing the game or from seeing the game being advertised by a popular publisher. another use of synergy was the merchandise i.e. posters, mugs, t-shirts that were sold from websites and shops alike, also created ancillary revenue, these are examples of ancillary revenue.

I strongly agree with the statement because over the recent years both cinema audiences and home viewing of films has drastically changed from a 2D 480pp resolution to a possibility of 3D 1080pp HD resolution Which enhances the detail inwhich an audience can view.
